Join WiN for the 10th Annual WiN-Canada conference on Monday, September 30 at the Best Western Pembroke Inn & Conference Centre, in Pembroke, ON. The theme for this year’s conference is Seize the Future – Innovation in the Nuclear Industry. The conference will cover a wide range of very inspirational speakers providing their insights into innovation in the nuclear industry and how we can position ourselves to take advantage of future change. The program includes technical sessions on innovations in mining and science and technology in the nuclear industry as well as an opportunity to discover your change profile and better understand how you and others respond to change in the workplace.

Joan Vogelesang, known as Toon Boom’s globetrotter CEO will provide our keynote address. Joan will speak about her own success story, which includes winning Academy Awards for Engineering excellence, and how to innovate to stay ahead of the curve. She will talk about how she used what she learned on the innovation side of her business to help keep her career moving forward.
This year, delegates will have the opportunity to choose one of five technical tours to AECL Chalk River Decommissioning & Waste Management, AECL Chalk River Research and Development, Nordion, Bubble Technology Industries and NuTech Precision Metals Inc . These tours will take place the morning of Tuesday, October 1. Space is limited for each of the tours, so please register early to avoid disappointment. Registration for the tours will remain open until September 17.
We are also running a student program to offer 10 post-secondary students free registration to our conference. Please check out the application form at the bottom of the conference webpage. The deadline for submissions is 5:00 p.m. on September 13. Travel expenses will be the responsibility of the student.
In addition to the full day plenary session and tours, the WiN conference will include 9-holes of golf and two receptions. Golf will take place on Sunday afternoon from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. This best ball format is perfect for the beginning golfer, who just wants to have fun, learn a little bit about the game of golf and raise much needed money for the breast cancer research through the Canadian Cancer Society. The cost is $40.00 for the golf clinic, green fees, cart rental and a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Club rentals are available for an extra fee of $10.00.
The opening reception on Sunday, September 29, is offered at an additional cost of $25.00/person and includes dinner, networking opportunities, keynote speaker, Jennifer Layman and a raffle table to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society for breast cancer research. The closing reception on Monday, September 30, is also offered at an additional cost of $25.00/person and offers a taste of the valley. This exposition of food produced by local restaurants will satisfy any appetite and palate.
