Com. Kristine Svinicki Talks to NAYGN Members at AREVA TN
“Share your Testimony” was the theme of U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner Kristine Svinicki’s talk with AREVA Inc.’s Columbia, Md. chapter of North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) at the AREVA TN headquarters. Commissioner Svinicki encouraged the NAYGN members to continue promoting the benefits of nuclear energy, and admitted that she admired how the incoming generation of nuclear professionals is taking nuclear energy into new paradigms. Svinicki further explained, “I feel NAYGN has re-engaged and refreshed the industry. With innovation at the forefront, NAYGN is taking the frame into account, not just the issues. Determined to take the profession into their own hands, NAYGN-ers have their own reasons for supporting nuclear—it complements their values. With this view, nuclear takes on a humanitarian aspect with social benefits which drives their efforts.”
The room full of AREVA TN attendees had a full hour to ask Commissioner Svinicki questions, and covered a series of topics from career advice and nuclear energy advocacy to tales of being on The Hill.
