Fifth Annual NAYGN Canadian Regional Conference: Nuclear 2050: Envisioning the Future of Energy

On October 17, 2025, around 168 young professionals, students, and industry leaders gathered at the Ontario Bar Association Conference Centre in Toronto for the Fifth Annual NAYGN Canadian Regional Conference. This year’s theme, "Nuclear 2050: Envisioning the Future of Energy," inspired a full day of engaging discussions, networking, and forward-thinking presentations focused on the future of nuclear energy in Canada and beyond.

A Valuable Opportunity for Emerging Talent

The conference served as a dynamic platform for students and young professionals to connect directly with industry experts, explore career pathways, and gain exposure to cutting-edge developments in nuclear science and technology. From keynote addresses to interactive panels, attendees were immersed in conversations that will shape the future of energy.

Participants had the chance to learn from leaders in nuclear fusion, space applications, and new builds, engage in policy and communications discussions, explore diversity, innovation, and global perspectives in nuclear, and build professional networks through speed networking and exhibitor engagement.

Highlights from the Day

The day began with welcoming remarks followed by a powerful Indigenous Fireside Chat, setting the tone for inclusive and thoughtful dialogue throughout the event.

Networking and Exhibitor Engagement

Refreshment breaks and lunch provided opportunities to connect with exhibitors and sponsors, including gold, silver, and student-level supporters. Attendees also had the chance to get professional LinkedIn headshots taken by a student photographer.

Speed Networking & Social Activities

Speed networking sessions helped foster new professional relationships, while the evening concluded with a lively networking social at BATL Axe Throwing. Attendees enjoyed food, drinks, and friendly competition in axe throwing and archery, wrapping up the day with energy and camaraderie.
