CNS Education and Communication Award Presented to Matt Mairinger, NAYGN President

Congratulations to Matthew Mairinger, P. Eng. PMP, for receiving the 2024 Education and Communication Award from the Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) and Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA)!
The award was presented at the CNS/CNA Honors and Awards Lunch Ceremony on June 18, 2024 as part of the CNS Annual Conference held in Saskatoon from June 16-19, 2024.
Matt is a young engineer who has been making an impact in the nuclear industry through his advocacy work. He has served in the NAYGN Durham chapter leadership position from 2015-2019 before being elected to the NAYGN Board of Directors as Canadian Operating Officer role from 2018-2022. The following year, his peers elected him as the NAYGN President.
In addition to his technical contributions to the industry, he is a gifted communicator and has authored articles and presented at international conferences. His passion for nuclear and sustainable energy solutions has led him to spearhead several initiatives aimed at enhancing public understanding and acceptance of nuclear. His commitment to education and outreach is evident through his active involvement in programs such as NAYGN and in his role as a mentor for aspiring engineers.
Matt holds a P. Eng. and PMP designation and received his Bachelor of Engineering in Nuclear Engineering degree and Nuclear Technology graduate diploma from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. He currently is on a secondment with Laurentis Energy Partners as the manager of Business Development. He resides in Bowmanville, Ontario, and enjoys surfing, golf, and windsurfing.
