In 1999, seven people set forth to create an organization that embodied the spirit of young professionals in the nuclear industry. Their goal was to provide an organization that united these young professionals who believe in nuclear science and technology and are working together throughout North America to share their passion. This is the highest award given by NAYGN to an individual. It is presented to a member of NAYGN who exemplifies the efforts of the organization’s Founders.
This award is chosen by the Board of Directors and may not be awarded every year.

- Individuals exemplify NAYGN’s mission to develop strong leadership and professional skills, create lifelong connections, engage and inform the public, and inspire nuclear technology professionals
- Exceptional Leadership
- Individuals have demonstrated exceptional leadership capabilities through leading initiatives, organizing events, mentoring members, and driving NAYGN’s strategic objectives.
- Demonstrated the ability to envision and articulate a clear direction for NAYGN initiatives, including setting strategic goals, inspiring others to follow, and effectively communicating the vision to the broader community.
- Impact of Contributions
- The individual’s efforts have increased engagement, improved program delivery, and driven organizational goals.

- Specific Contributions: Provide a detailed explanation of the nominee’s specific actions or initiatives that support NAYGN’s mission. Include their role in these efforts as a leader or facilitator. Focus on activities that required significant time, effort, or innovation.
- Alignment with NAYGN’s Mission and Purpose: Specify how the nominee’s work aligns with NAYGN’s mission and core objectives.
- Demonstrated Leadership: Provide examples of the nominee’s role in mentoring and developing other members. Provide examples of the individual working effectively with diverse teams, building and maintaining relationships, and promoting a culture of inclusivity and cooperation.

- Total possible score: 25 points
- Nominations scoring below an average of 4 will not be considered.
Evaluation Process:
- Each criterion is scored independently by members of the NAYGN Board of Directors.
- Final scores are averaged across reviewers to ensure consistency and fairness.
