Hairston Award

To recognize an executive who has gone above and beyond to support NAYGN by:

  • Furthering NAYGN with their executive peers
  • Supporting both their local and continental chapters of NAYGN
  • Spending time mentoring the organization.

Note to nominees: The criteria for this award has been updated for 2025.  A rubric is provided to help with creating your award nominations.

Instructions:

This submission should clearly describe specific examples of an executive advocating for NAYGN. If applicable, include examples of when other executives that have been involved as a direct result of the nominee’s recommendations. Provide examples of the executive’s personal support and participation in NAYGN events at a local, regional, and continental level. Provide testimonials or examples of successful mentorship given by the nominee.

Top Scoring Criteria:

  • Exceptional advocacy for NAYGN amongst industry peers
  • Exceptional supporter of NAYGN initiatives at all levels
  • Dedication to mentoring and furthering young professionals in the nuclear industry

Hairston Award Grading Rubric

Evaluation Process:

This award is chosen by the Board of Directors and may not be awarded every year. Each criterion is scored independently by reviewers. Final scores are averaged across reviewers to ensure fairness and consistency. In the event of a tie, a democratic vote will take place within the Board of Directors.
