It is with great sadness that we share the news of the unexpected passing of one of our own NAYGN members, Tyree Adams. He was 32 years old.  Tyree was a NAYGN local chapter officer and worked in the Engineering Site Design group at Vogtle 1 & 2. He was an Air Force Veteran.

Tyree was essential in planning many NAYGN events – especially leading the effort for the Vogtle NAYGN Golf Tournament, which has raised over $40,000 for charities in the Augusta, GA community.  Tyree was very active in community efforts, namely the Burke County Toy Drive, Bailey’s Bulldogs supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Miracle Mile Breast Cancer Walk.  He personally delivered items from the annual back-to-school supply drive to local students and spearheaded the chapter’s Community Outreach Division.  “He was upbeat and had the ability to make people laugh,” said Mechanical and Civil Design Supervisor Luis Sanchez. “Tyree was a caring person who always wanted to help. He would put aside his own work to assist a colleague. He will be greatly missed by all of us.”

Tyree’s funeral was held in Hephzibah, Georgia on Sunday May 20th.   Tyree will be missed by family, friends, NAYGN peers, and the local community.  To honor Tyree’s memory, NAYGN has made a donation in his name to Safe Homes Augusta, an organization important to Tyree.  Safe Homes Augusta provides housing, medical care, and financial assistance to victims of domestic violence.  Our members are welcome to join us in honoring Tyree by making a donation in his memory.
