Memorandum of Understanding Signed!
NAYGN President, Amber Von Ruden, and Canadian Operating Officer, Matthew Mairiginer, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC)!
The goal of this MoU is to foster collaboration and provide a partnership for both organizations to actively support the field of human resources in Canada’s electricity industry. By developing this relationship, we are seeking to enhance each organization’s effectiveness by leveraging the visibility, communications reach, and access to audiences that a partnership can offer.
EHRC recently released their Generation Impact report and recorded a webinar detailing the results. Our very own, Matthew Mairinger, participated on a panel during the webinar!
We are looking forward to this partnership and seeing what we can accomplish together!

Adrian served in the US Navy aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt as a Nuclear Machinist Mate. In December 2008, he was hired as a Radiation Protection contractor at McGuire Nuclear Station in Charlotte, NC. Adrian was hired as a Duke Energy employee in 2011, and began working in the Operations department at McGuire. Adrian helped to develop Duke Energy’s corporate gender transition policy, and was the first person to use it in January of 2014. He and his wife, Silvia, enjoy traveling and spending time with their four-legged baby, a black labmix named Hunter.

Traditional media, commonly referred to as the “4th Estate,” has given way to thousands of blogs, podcasts, and media outlets focusing on niche interests and industries, including the energy sector. This “5th Estate,” which includes all social media, can be a powerful tool to help focus your messages, unfiltered, to a targeted audience.
During this webinar, you will learn how podcasts and other new media strategies can be developed from scratch to serve messaging needs. You will also have the opportunity to incorporate these tools in interactive scenario -based break-out sessions. The event will conclude with panelists from the utility side, academia, and the private sector sharing their experiences leveraging these tools to maximize their messaging now and for the future.

Nominate a Peer to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Advanced Nuclear Reactors Study
The Board on Energy and Environmental Systems of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, in collaboration with several units across the Academies, is searching for 15-18 experts to serve on a study on new and advanced nuclear reactors in the United States.
The primary goal of the study is to complete a technical assessment of new and advanced reactors, including Gen III/III+ but with a large amount of focus on Gen IV reactors, and to identify challenges associated with commercialization and deployment. They are looking for a wide variety of diverse perspectives in this study, and in particular request nominations of members of underrepresented communities, women, and people of color.
