2014 Student Conference Scholarships Announced

North American Young Generation in Nuclear is proud to announce the 2014 Student Conference Scholarship recipients. This year, NAYGN is able to support seven students to attend the annual workshop being held May 18-20 in Scottsdale, AZ. These seven students will have the opportunity to meet hundreds of young professionals already working in industry, government and academic nuclear positions.

“I am very excited that these seven students will be attending the workshop,” said Christine Csizmadia, President of North American Young Generation in Nuclear. “These diverse students have the opportunity to expand their understanding of their chosen career field.”

The student recipients are:

  • David Alkema, A.S. in Nuclear Technology, Estrella Mountain Community College
  • Tomi Akindele, Graduate Student in Nuclear Policy, University of California - Berkeley
  • Emily Frantz, B.S. in Nuclear Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
  • Collin Hepburn, A.S. in Nuclear Technology, Estrella Mountain Community College
  • Daniel Metz, B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Virginia Commonwealth University
  • Steven Ward, Nuclear Engineering PhD Candidate, University of Michigan
  • Fadwa Sandoval, A.S. in Radiation Protection, Estrella Mountain Community College

Scholarship recipient Steve Ward said, “I am honored to have received this opportunity. I can’t wait to meet everyone and attend the conference.”

The theme for this year's workshop is "Innovation Generation: Young Professionals Advancing Nuclear Technology.” In addition to the renowned plenary speakers, who will discuss innovation and leadership, participants will choose from specially developed breakouts and interactive activities to reinforce their innovation knowledge and skills.
