NAYGN Engages at Geography Awareness Week
On November 20th, 2025, NAYGN was proud to participate in Geography Awareness Week at Milliken Mills High School in Markham, Ontario, where students stopped by our booth with thoughtful questions. Members from Sargent & Lundy and Westinghouse chapters walked the students through how nuclear power works and why geography matters to the industry—from geological and hydrological studies in site selection to the need for proximity to reliable water sources. The team also discussed the safety and reliability of nuclear energy and the important role it will play in delivering a clean, secure energy future. NAYGN members also shared what it's like working in the nuclear power industry, offering insight to our day-to-day work and the impact of our projects on local communities. To clear up misconceptions, the team addressed common myths around radiation and waste, highlighting the safeguards built into every stage of the nuclear energy cycle. Thank you to Milliken Mills High School for the warm welcome and great questions; your curiosity and engagement made this event a success!
