A determined group of more than 40 volunteers showed up at Burlington Elementary School Saturday morning to demolish old playground equipment and make room for a new set to be delivered in April.
The team of school staff, community members and Wolf Creek Young Generation in Nuclear members disassembled and cleared hundreds of pounds of metal and concrete. In addition, the team loaded and relocated dozens of truckloads of rubber mulch. Wolf Creek donated personal protective equipment for the work.
“WCYGN set a goal this year to become more involved in the community with volunteer activities, school programs and introducing the community to nuclear energy,” said WCYGN chairperson Nolan Strawder.
