On June 19th, 2025, a vibrant day that championed teamwork, networking, and spirited competition, four NAYGN chapters in the Canada region proudly hosted an Ontario Power Generation (OPG) SMR-X soccer tournament. The success of this exhilarating event was made possible through the sponsorship of NAYGN Durham, Candu Energy Inc., Aecon, and GE SMR Chapters. Their invaluable support ensured a memorable experience for all involved.

The tournament saw nearly 50 participants, a mix of enthusiastic players and supportive spectators, all contributing to the high-energy environment. Four dedicated teams battled it out in a series of closely contested matches, demonstrating impressive skills and embodying the spirit of fair play. Beyond the thrilling games, the event served as an exceptional platform for members from various chapters to connect, collaborate, and strengthen professional and personal bonds. There were fun team-building activities, live singing, and lawn games to keep everyone entertained. Delicious refreshments were also on hand, keeping everyone fueled and refreshed throughout the day.

A tremendous thank you is owed to Darnell Parris and his dedicated organizing team. Their exceptional efforts and meticulous planning were instrumental in creating such a successful and impactful event. The OPG SMR-X soccer tournament truly fostered a sense of community and provided an outstanding opportunity for NAYGN chapters to get moving, come together, support each other, and participate in a vibrant, engaging setting.
The NAYGN Canada region looks forward to future events that continue to build on this success and further strengthen the NAYGN community!
