35th Annual Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) Conference and 39th CNS/CNA Student Conference

The annual CNS conference was held in Saint John, New Brunswick from May 31^th to June 3^rd, 2015 at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre. The purpose of this conference was to share the latest developments within the Canadian Nuclear Industry. There were over 300 attendees from industry, academia and government. The theme of the conference was “Nuclear Innovation Through Collaboration”. As a part of the conference, Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCI) and New Brunswick (NB) Power hosted a Nuclear Suppliers Event.

During the conference, three representatives: Andrew Ali, Cory Linton (Amec Foster Wheeler Nuclear Canada – NAYGN) and Luke Campbell (NB Power – NAYGN), represented North American Young Generation Nuclear (NAYGN) at a booth that was shared with Women in Nuclear (WiN).

Overall, this was a very successful conference with opportunities to listen to many interesting topics and learn about different suppliers and equipment demonstrations.

During the conference luncheon, the organizers recognized the accomplishments of individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Canadian Nuclear Industry in various aspects.   All of the acceptance speeches had something in common, they could not have accomplished it on their own, without the continuous support from family and colleagues.

One of the highlights of the conference was the banquet, where they had a live band that played local music during a delicious dinner.

The next CNS annual conference will be taking place in Toronto in June 19-22, 2016, with the theme “Nuclear In The 21^st Century: Canada’s Role”.
