Reading Guide & Raffle Contest

Nuclear Science Week is approaching once again this October 19-23. The international week-long event will lavish attention on nuclear science in all its aspects. In anticipation of this celebration, NAYGN is pleased to share the Nuclear Science Week Children's Book Reading Guide as well as the associated raffle contest.
Nuclear Science Week Children’s Book Reading Guide: A practical resource that helps NAYGN chapters plan and lead engaging children’s book readings during Nuclear Science Week. The guide includes recommended books, event-planning steps, discussion prompts, activities, and tips for introducing young students to nuclear energy.
Nuclear Science Week Book Reading Raffle Contest: A chapter-wide challenge that encourages NAYGN members to host and report children’s book-reading events during Nuclear Science Week. Participating chapters earn raffle entries based on their outreach impact for a chance to win a chapter outreach package valued at over $200.

2026 Essay Contest

The 2026 NAYGN Student Essay Contest invites high school students to explore how nuclear technology can contribute to a more sustainable future! Through this annual contest, students have the opportunity to research, analyze, and share their perspectives on the role of nuclear innovation in addressing tomorrow's energy and environmental challenges.
Participants will select one of six essay topics, incorporate a personal connection to the subject matter, and submit an original essay of 1,000 to 1,500 words. Essays must be supported by at least three credible sources and demonstrate thoughtful research and analysis. While artificial intelligence (AI) tools may be used as part of the writing process, students are responsible for verifying all factual information and must include an AI Use Statement with their submission.
The contest opens on September 15, 2026, and all submissions must be received by November 30, 2026. Eligible entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges, with prizes awarded to the top three submissions. Winners will also be recognized on the NAYGN website and social media channels!
We encourage students to review the contest requirements and submission guidelines below and take advantage of this opportunity to share their vision for the future of nuclear technology.
