Georgian College Launches New NAYGN Chapter

Submitted by Jisoo Yoon, President of Georgian College NAYGN

On Monday March 9th, Georgian College held their very first NAYGN kickoff event in Owen Sound, Ontario. There was a turnout of 30 students and faculty from the college supporting the launch of the chapter. Chad Richards, senior strategist from Bruce Power, gave a presentation to the new members on the impact of nuclear in the Clean Energy Frontier as well as the economic benefits and impact that Bruce Power has on the nuclear industry. Afterwards, networking continued with a pizza lunch, raffle prize giveaways, and free NAYGN swag. The benefit of the newly formed NAYGN chapter was immediately evident as the members engaged with the nuclear industry professional. His substantial background in politics provided an additional layer to the discussion and gave students a better understanding of how they can make their voice heard during the stages of development for a new build. This event tied into NAYGN's pillar of public information to inform and engage the public on nuclear energy and developments in its technology.
