Callaway Energy Center's New Generation in Nuclear Lunch & Learn Series

The New Generation in Nuclear (NGN) Lunch & Learn Series at Callaway Energy Center successfully presented employees with structured professional development and cross-disciplinary networking meetings, providing participants with opportunities to build connections, expand their knowledge, and explore career paths across the station.

Over the course of 10 weeks, the series brought together interns, co-ops, new hires, and experienced professionals, including senior leaders, for open discussions focused on mentorship, networking, and career growth. Each session highlighted a different functional area, such as Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Work Management, and Leadership, giving attendees a broader understanding of plant operations and career pathways within the nuclear industry.

Presenters shared their career journeys, educational backgrounds, and current responsibilities while offering practical advice and lessons learned to support early-career professionals. Participants actively engaged in discussions, asked thoughtful questions, and developed connections with colleagues outside of their immediate work groups.

The series strongly supported NAYGN's mission of developing the next generation of nuclear leaders by:

Participants leave with a broader understanding of the nuclear industry, stronger professional networks, and increased confidence in navigating their careers.

Now in its third year, the NGN Lunch & Learn Series has continued to demonstrate its value as a sustainable and scalable professional development initiative. The program has consistently contributed to knowledge sharing, workforce engagement, and leadership development, making it an effective model for strengthening the future nuclear workforce.
