Submitted by Eric Macpherson and Matthew Pecaric
The Queen's University NAYGN Chapter in Kingston, Ontario, Canada recently hosted two nights for members to come together with the broader Queen's University community and local companies and learn more about the nuclear industry.
The Queen’s Nuclear Trivia Night, hosted and organized by the Queen’s NAYGN chapter, is an event where two sponsor companies have the opportunity to present to the Queen’s chapter and engage directly with our members. This event incited the transfer of knowledge between leaders within the nuclear science community and inspired the new generation of nuclear professionals here at Queen’s University. Featuring presentations from two sponsor companies, Aalo Atomics & Westinghouse Electric Company, students strengthened their professional development skills and gained a greater understanding of the nuclear energy sector and its ongoing innovations. Nuclear Trivia Night is open to all Queen’s NAYGN members and is marketed to encourage students who are interested in nuclear to attend. The trivia takes place in the final 20 minutes of the event, featuring content relevant to the two presentations. Participants in trivia are entitled to participation prizes, with the winner of trivia receiving prizes worth +$50 in value.
