Membership Newsletter: MoU Signed with Key Industry Partners
Memorandum of Understanding Signed with ANS, NEI, and U.S. WiN
Last week, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ANS, NEI, and U.S. WiN!
Our president, Amber Von Ruden was joined by Marilyn Kray (Past President of American Nuclear Society), Maria Korsnick (President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute), and Jhansi Kandasamy (Chair for U.S. Women in Nuclear) during the virtual signing.
The goal of this MoU is to strengthen our collaboration in advancing nuclear energy and science, professional development, and member networking to support industry priorities and benefit our individual members.
Registration Is Open for NEI's 'State of the Nuclear Energy Industry' Virtual Event
This virtual event includes NEI President and CEO Maria Korsnick's annual nuclear industry outlook followed by two policy panels.
The first panel features Miranda Ballentine, CEO of the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance, and Ken Kimmell, president of the Union of Concerned Scientists. Rich Powell from ClearPath will moderate a discussion with these two clean energy leaders.
The second panel will feature Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) interviewed by Bipartisan Policy Center's Jason Grumet.
There will be a Q&A period at the end of each session.

Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Over the past few weeks, we've had to take a hard look at the diversity within our organization. We realize we are not where we should be and that we need to do better to change that. As a first step, we've created the "Diversity and Inclusion Committee".
This committee will be responsible for reviewing the current state of diversity and inclusion in our organization and then form actions and initiatives to make NAYGN a more diverse and inclusive organization with increased participation from underrepresented groups. Additionally, these initiatives should ultimately help NAYGN to be better in addressing systemic racism in our organization, in the nuclear industry, and in the communities we live.
We realize that this committee will not solve everything and there is much more work to do.
If you'd like to get involved, email us diversity@naygn.org.

Interview with Doug Lightfoot of "Nobody's Fuel"
Recently, our Canadian Operations Officer, Matthew Mairinger, interviewed Doug Lightfoot of "Nobody's Fuel: An Engineer's Guide to Saving the Planet". This film has been described as "An Inconvenient Truth meets Baraka." On a road trip to the heart of an ailing planet with a message of hope, this documentary about nuclear energy may change the way you see the greening of the planet.

Get Involved with the 2020 Virtual PD Committee
We have created a special NAYGN ad hoc committee – the Virtual Professional Development Special Committee – to help develop and deliver content to our members during this time of COVID-19.
The vision is to take some content that was developed for the 2020 NAYGN PD Conference (which was cancelled), as well as develop new content to deliver to our members in the spirit of still providing quality professional development opportunities.
Another facet of this committee would be to interface with each region as they plan and execute regional conferences (in-person and/or virtual). Opportunities exist for this special committee to provide additional ideas and support to the regions, especially if content is developed that could benefit each regional conference.
What is the need? Needs exist for both a committee lead as well as committee members.
Please note that this is not the same committee that will plan for the 2021 NAYGN Professional Development and Nuclear Energy Assembly Conference.
Respond to Jenny Gourley, pd@naygn.org with your interest (committee lead and/or committee member) by close of business, Friday, June 19, 2020.
